What Are Our Machines Making of Us?
Technology promises to make our lives easier, more connected, and maybe even happier. But what happens when the tools we create begin shaping how we live, what we choose, and who we become?
Join us for a guided conversation about what technology gives us, what it takes away, and how our dependence on machines may be changing us.
We’ll read two short science fiction stories, E. M. Forster’s The Machine Stops and Naomi Kritzer’s Better Living Through Algorithms. Together, we’ll ask: Are our machines simply serving us, or are they also making us into something new?
We’ll send you the readings after you register, and the preparation is designed to take under two hours.
